Nyack College and Alliance Theological Seminary held its 125th anniversary year Commencement at Westchester County Center in White Plains, NY on Monday, May 19 when 594 new alumni received undergraduate and graduate degrees from bachelors and masters programs.

The Nyack campus community welcomed a most distinguished guest, the 24th U.S. Secretary of Labor, the Honorable Elaine L. Chao, as its 2008 Commencement speaker.

Three honorary degrees were conferred during the ceremony. Secretary Chao and her father, Dr. James S.C. Chao, who is a member of an Alliance church in Westchester, were awarded the Doctor of Letters. Mr. Ronald E. Eastman, chairman of the Nyack/ATS Board of Trustees received the Doctor of Divinity.
