| School of Business and Leadership What is SB&L?
The School of Business and Leadership is committed to developing thought leaders with an entrepreneurial spirit through an interdisciplinary curriculum that is grounded in five core values: Academic Excellence, Global Engagement, Intentional Diversity, Social Relevance, and Personal Transformation.Through our undergraduate and graduate programs, SB&L seeks to foster learning environments that prepare students for a career of service and leadership that enables them to positively transform organizations, individuals and society.
Our pedagogical approach focuses on an action-based learning model that intergrates theory, research and application to real world issues.
Our academically rigorous curriculum is taught by highly qualified faculty who bring a mixture of scholarship, and applied experience in business, faith-based and non-profit organizations.
The School of Business and Leadership consists of four academic programs; Undergrad Business Administration, Organizational Management (OM - adult degree completion program), Master in Business Administration (MBA), and Master of Science in Organizational Leadership (MSOL).
Welcome
Undergrad Business Administration (UBA) - Foundations of business operations and management. We currently offer two majors – Accounting and Business Administration. Within Business Administration, if you choose, you may concentrate (i.e., take 5 courses in a specific field) in Accounting, Computer Science, Economics, Finance, Human Resources, International Business, Management, Marketing, Music Business, Pre-Law and Sports Management. This kind of focus may help you position yourself for specific job opportunities. Should you not be sure of a concentration at this stage of your life, you may opt to not concentrate and take a variety of business courses to see what interests you. We also have internship opportunities for credit so that you can add real world experience to your resume and “try out” a field. The School of Business has membership in the International Business Honor Society, Sigma Beta Delta, which is opened to seniors and upper class juniors with 3.5 or better GPAs. This gives you the ability to highlight this honor on your resume and increase your marketability. Finally, we have a Business Club run by students who host field trips, Christmas and end-of-year get togethers. Our Computer Science Department is designed to provide you with core knowledge of the field. However, given the depth of the field and the growing selection of specialties in the workplace, the department has restructured to provide three concentrations (Information Technology, networking and Hardware, Application Development and Programming, and Digital Media). As with the business major, you can elect to not concentrate and dabble in a mix of courses from each discipline. Each of our faculty has stellar academic credentials and professional experience. Some consult in the IT field, publish, conduct research and have patents. Students have the opportunity to intern at the college or in a commercial setting and will be mentored by committed Christian professional. Organizational Management (OM-degree completion program) - To effectively understand and manage human capital within an organizational context. A supportive environment and a focused cohort-based structure designed to help working adults complete their undergraduate degree in Organizational Management. Om has a relevant course offering that allows students to immediately apply classroom learning in a variety of workplace settings. Our learning environment encourages growth and helps students develop their communications, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. Master in Business Administration (MBA) - Business consultants to bring about transformation. In the Fall of 2002, we launched an MBA program that allows qualified students to complete their MBA in Accounting or Business Administration in a 5 th year. Accounting majors whose objective is to earn a CPA will need to continue at Nyack or elsewhere to meet the new CPA requirements for additional courses. Our MBA program will permit accounting students to meet those requirements and to earn an MBA as well. We are in the process of adding 6 MBA concentrations (Management, Human Resource Management, International Business, Finance, Marketing, and Computer Information Systems). The MBA is offered nights and on Saturday in NYC and in Nyack, NY so that students can maintain full time jobs if they so choose. Master of Science in Organizational Leadership (MSOL) - Our core is 'mindset'. We prepare people to lead wherever they are! The MSOL program is designed for those who seek to strengthen their leadership capabilities in non-profit, faith based, business or community organizations. Motivated individuals seeking to complete a graduate degree in a 12-month period will appreciate the evening/weekend/online courses and the rigorous nature of the program.
