The heartbeat of Nyack has always been the students. This year over 3,100 students are enrolled and the large majority receive financial assistance from the institution.

Each year, we commit over $9,000,000 to provide financial assistance to students in Nyack’s multiple site undergraduate, graduate, and seminary programs.  A major part of that assistance is provided through the general operating budget.

We also need to raise, through gifts from individuals, churches, corporations, and foundations, $1,000,000 for student support in areas other than financial aid.  Some of the projects identified for the 2007-08 academic year are:

Free counseling support: $65,000
With the rise in single parent families and the many challenges that today’s young people face it is essential to provide professional counseling services if students are to develop and succeed academically.

Academic Support Program: $135,000
It costs approximately $2,500 per student annually for this program geared towards helping academically and financially challenged students receive a college education. We carry approximately 54 students each year. Nyack’s portion of the cost is matched by the state for New York residents.

Nursing & Gerontology Lab Equipment/Supplies: $187,500
Nyack College has a great opportunity to begin nursing and gerontology programs. We cannot do it, however, without labs and equipment.

New Computers in all labs: $150,000
125 computers ($1,000 each) plus printers.

Library Books: $100,000
We need to acquire 2,000 books for new majors. Estimate $50 each.

Christian Student Activities: $105,000
College students nationally participate in many activities while in college - many that are not in the best interest of Christian students. Nyack spends about $100 per student annually to provide wholesome social experiences.

Student Radio Station: $27,500
WNYK 88.7, a live radio station, is used to equip students in radio skills practical media outreach.

Tutoring and academic support services: $240,000
This program provides small group study groups, tutoring, testing, and overall academic support to the general student body. It costs approximately $250 per student.

OUR CHALLENGE

This year, Nyack and ATS face some unique challenges.  We believe the eight projects listed above are essential for us to continue offering the high quality and supportive programs our students deserve.  At the same time, because we are trying to keep tuition costs affordable, we cannot cover these costs without donor help.

YOUR ROLE

As we face the opportunities and challenges to support Nyack and ATS students, we turn to you our friends with three requests:

  1. Pray for the students of Nyack and ATS.
  2. Prepare to partner with a generous commitment in this fiscal year.
  3. Plan to be an Ambassador by being a "friend raiser" and sharing the good news of  Nyack/ATS and its ministry and mission with friends in your church.
