Names Its 12th President Nyack, NY--Mr. Ronald Eastman, Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Nyack College and Alliance Theological Seminary (ATS) announced to the campus community on Wednesday, February 1 that Dr. Michael G. Scales will be the twelfth president of the 124-year-old institution, ending a five-month search conducted by a nine-member committee. No stranger to Nyack, Dr. Scales has served the college as Executive Vice President, Vice President of Advancement, and Assistant to the President for Enrollment. It was the consensus of the search committee that his familiarity with the Nyack mission, vision, and core values, as well as his background in Christian higher education will serve the institution well. A seasoned consultant to some fifty colleges and universities, his marketing expertise and past role as general advisor to college presidents is vital to the new role Dr. Scales will assume. Scales, returns to Nyack from his post as Vice President of Advancement at The Master’s College and Seminary in Santa Clarita, California. His doctorate was earned at the University of Georgia. Dr. Scales also completed an M.A. at Western Kentucky University, and a B.S. at Toccoa Falls College. The Gadsden, Alabama native is married to the former Susan Lynn DeLany. Married for 31 years, they are the parents of two daughters and two sons, who range in age from 14 to 27. They are also the grandparents of a one-year-old. Nyack College was founded in 1882. In addition to its main campus in Nyack, NY and a second campus in New York City, extension sites are located in Albany, NY; Washington, DC; and Miami Valley, OH. Nyack is a Christian liberal arts college and is ranked by U.S. News and World Report as having one of the most diverse student populations in the nation. Alliance Theological Seminary was founded in 1960 and is the official seminary of the Christian and Missionary Alliance. Campuses are located in Nyack, NY and New York City; extension sites are in Puerto Rico and Kiev, Ukraine. Currently, Nyack and ATS enroll more than 3,000 students.
